HOT  POCKET

An exploration into game design, Unity 3D, and VR environments as another tool to craft a story and experience.

Play the first prototype on itch.io

I’m learning how to develop my first game in Unity so I can better understand how to design for something that exists outside of screen.  I'm excited to use VR environments as another tool to craft a story and experience.

THE PROCESS

Here’s some funny glitches I documented along the way.

THE OUTCOME

PROJECT REFLECTION

KEY LEARNINGS
  • I realized that I can’t focus on the UI and making things look pretty- it needs to work first. Understanding how to build the mechanics and rules of how the bear reacts in the enviroment comes first.

  • Refer to the community and ask questions. Sometimes, when you’re 100% new to understanding a new program, there are just some rules that aren’t mentioned because it seems obvious to the people who are already in the game. It helps to shoot questions to the commnity to get a better understanding of best practices.

  • Patience. It’s ok to take a break and come back to it a few hours/ days later. Taking distance from the project will help in approaching it in a new way.
